The story takes place many years after Stanley Ipkiss gave up the mask and tried to live a normal life. Now older and quieter, Stanley believes the chaos is finally behind him. But deep beneath the ocean, the cursed mask—created by the trickster god Loki—has not been destroyed. Instead, it has begun to awaken once again.

A new character, Jason Cross, a troubled and ambitious young man, discovers a second version of the mask. Unlike Stanley, Jason doesn’t use it for fun—he uses it for power. The mask amplifies his anger and ambition, turning him into a dangerous force capable of warping reality in darker, more destructive ways.

As chaos spreads across the city, Stanley is forced out of retirement. Reluctantly, he puts the mask on one last time.
