The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 (2027) continues the adventure after The Super Mario Bros. Movie, bringing Mario and Luigi back to the Mushroom Kingdom for a bigger battle, new worlds, and the return of the most dangerous villain. 
The trailer opens with the kingdom celebrating peace, but far away, a dark castle rises from lava. A voice says Bowser was never truly defeated.

The last scene shows Bowser laughing in the lava.
