NATO Plans to Raise Alert Level After Iranian Missile Attack on Turkey

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization plans to increase the alert level of its ballistic missile defense systems following an Iranian missile attack targeting Turkey, according to a spokesperson at the alliance’s military headquarters in Mons.
The measure was taken by the commander of NATO’s air command, who also recommended maintaining the alliance’s forces at the highest level of readiness until the threat posed by the current Iranian attacks in the region subsides.
According to the spokesperson, NATO forces detected the missile immediately after launch and activated defensive procedures without delay.
Within less than ten minutes, NATO personnel were able to identify the ballistic missile, determine its trajectory, and activate missile defense systems deployed both on land and at sea to carry out a successful interception maneuver.

While the defensive response was initiated on Wednesday when the missile defense protocol was first activated, the decision to maintain the alliance at maximum readiness was taken afterward in response to the continuing risk of further Iranian strikes.
The move reflects NATO’s heightened vigilance as regional tensions escalate and missile threats extend toward member states.
