The story centers on Henry Hearst (Gene Hackman), a powerful and arrogant lawyer summoned to a police station on a quiet night to answer questions about the murder of two young girls. What begins as a routine interview gradually turns into a psychological siege led by Captain Victor Benezet (Morgan Freeman), a calm, methodical investigator who slowly dismantles Hearst’s confidence and exposes cracks in his carefully constructed persona.

Gene Hackman delivers a commanding performance, shifting seamlessly from smug self-assurance to paranoia and emotional collapse.
