The biggest strength would be expanding the world—fans love Middle-earth for its deep lore. A darker tone, closer to The Lord of the Rings, could make the film feel more meaningful than the lighter Hobbit entries.

However, there’s a major problem:
The original trilogy already stretched one book into three films. A fourth movie risks feeling unnecessary and overly extended unless it’s based on stronger material from Tolkien’s appendices.

Characters like Gandalf or Thranduil could carry the story, but without Bilbo at the center, the film might lose its emotional core.
