READY OR NOT 2: HERE I COME (2026)

The film picks up immediately after the first movie, with Grace once again thrown into a deadly ritual—this time involving multiple elite families competing for power. Now joined by her estranged sister, the story shifts from a contained survival horror into something closer to a chaotic, globe-spanning death game. The premise escalates quickly: it’s no longer just about surviving one twisted family, but navigating a whole network of satanic elites fighting for control.

One of the film’s strongest elements is still its lead performance. Samara Weaving returns with the same raw intensity and dark comedic timing that made the original so memorable. Her dynamic with Kathryn Newton adds a fresh emotional layer, bringing a sisterly bond into the chaos. Their relationship becomes the emotional core, even as everything around them spirals into violence and absurdity.

Visually and tonally, the sequel leans harder into action-horror. The scale is noticeably larger, with more elaborate set pieces, more enemies, and a faster pace. The film embraces its ridiculousness—balancing gore with humor—but in doing so, it sometimes loses the tight, claustrophobic tension that defined the first movie. Instead of a sharp, focused satire, it becomes a louder, more explosive spectacle.

Where the film divides audiences most is in its storytelling. Expanding the lore of the Le Bail mythos and introducing rival families adds ambition, but also complexity that doesn’t always pay off. Some critics have noted that the film struggles with pacing and character depth, as it tries to juggle too many ideas at once.

At times, it feels less like a clever continuation and more like a franchise setting up future installments.

That said, the sequel still delivers on entertainment. It’s fast, chaotic, and packed with dark humor and shocking moments. Fans who enjoyed the original’s mix of horror and satire will find plenty to like—especially in its unapologetic energy and willingness to go bigger.

Ultimately, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is a bold but uneven sequel. It trades the simplicity and sharpness of the original for scale and mythology. While it doesn’t fully recapture the magic of its predecessor, it succeeds as a wild, over-the-top continuation that keeps the game alive—even if the rules have become far more complicated.
