As paranormal investigators begin studying the events, they discover that Valak is attempting to use the cursed doll as a gateway. Annabelle has long acted as a conduit for malevolent spirits, and Valak seeks to harness that connection to expand its influence into the physical world. If the plan succeeds, the barrier between the demon realm and the human world could weaken dramatically.
