Jordan Stolz Sets Olympic Record in 1,000m

Jordan Stolz delivered a historic performance on Wednesday, setting a new Olympic record while winning gold in the men’s 1,000-meter speed skating event.
The 21-year-old from Wisconsin clocked 1:06.28, shaving nearly a full second off the previous Olympic mark. While he narrowly missed his own world record time of 1:05.37, the performance was still enough to secure a dominant victory.
Dutch skater Jenning de Boo claimed the silver medal with a time of 1:06.78, while China’s Zhongyan Ning earned bronze in 1:07.34.
With the win, Stolz became the first American man to capture Olympic gold in the 1,000 meters since Shani Davis achieved the feat at the 2010 Vancouver Games.
A multi-time world champion, Stolz is set to compete in several more events at the 2026 Winter Olympics, including the 500 meters, 1,500 meters, and mass start. He is widely regarded as a top gold-medal contender in both the 500 and 1,500.
